If you are interested in wellness, you would do well to subscribe (by feed reader) to the NYTimes blog, "Well."

It covers a broad range of wellness topics. The latest, Medical Bills Cause Most Bankruptcies, reviews the results of a study published in the American Journal of Medicine. In 2007 medical problems contributed to 62.1 percent of all bankruptcies. Even those who have health insurance were caught in the fiscal trap.

NYTimes Concludes Workers' Compensation Series

The NYTimes three day series on workers' compensation, A World of Hurt, can be accessed through its website. The Times describes these articles as an "examination of New York State’s workers’ compensation system [that] uncovered a universe of delays, suspicion and questionable rulings."

NYTimes Article on Workers' Compensation, Part II

Tuesday's post on New York's workers' compensation system was the first of a series. Yesterday, part II took a hard look at the emotional factors associated with pursuing a claim and the resulting animosities and suspicions between workers, co-workers and employers. Today's NY Times has an extensive article on NY workers' compensation. Read it, and you begin to understand why we should appreciate our Oklahoma system. It cites statistics on benchmarking the benefits delivery system which I will pursue and report on in future postings.
